Stay Up to Date Using AHRI’s State A2L Approvals

February 15, 2024 | 1 minute read

AHRI has been actively working with state legislatures and code bodies to allow the installation of equipment using A2L refrigerants. Today, A2Ls can be used in 44 states. The interactive map shows if the state has adopted legislation allowing A2Ls or if the relevant safety standards for AC or refrigeration have been adopted into state building codes.

The interactive map can be accessed here.

AHRI will continue to update the map as states adopt building codes. Even though states have passed legislation or adopted building codes allowing A2L installation, some building officials may be uninformed about these changes. If you or a customer run into issues with local building code officials, please reach out to us with as many details as possible so we can help inform them of the changes.

If you have any additional questions about the A2L transition, please reach out to Alex Ayers.
