Alex Ayers
Alex Ayers is the Vice President of Government Affairs for Heating, Air-conditioning, & Refrigeration Distributors International. As a recovering political nerd and current policy wonk, Alex is HARDI’s primary lobbyist and regulatory expert. Growing up in Iowa, Alex was exposed early to local politics through the first in the nation Iowa Caucuses, participating as a county caucus delegate to develop the grassroots planks that go into creating the party platform. Since moving to Washington, DC, Alex has spent over a decade lobbying, publishing papers, and testifying in various policy areas, including taxes, energy, environment, agriculture, and economics. His research has been cited by organizations such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and the Tax Foundation.

Lori Byres
Lori Byers brings over 20 years of experience in the HVACR industry. She began her career in 2002 as an Account Manager, building strong customer relationships and deepening her market expertise. In 2015, she was promoted to Sales Manager, leading a team of eight account managers and playing a key role in pricing strategy, SOP development, and budgeting.
Following her company’s acquisition in 2018, Lori led the integration of sales teams and customer bases, helping drive growth across the newly combined organization. In 2021, she was named Director of Sales. In this role, she has been instrumental in identifying market trends, educating both the sales team and customers, launching new refrigerant reclamation programs, building an inside sales team, and expanding the company’s eCommerce presence.
