Washington Virgin Refrigerant Ban Signed by Governor Ferguson

On May 17th, Washington Governor Ferguson signed House Bill 1462 (HB1462) into law. HB1462 creates a ban on hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) virgin refrigerant in 2030 based on its global warming potential (GWP). Additionally, HB1462 gives authority to the Department of Ecology to create a task force that will study the possibility of Washington transitioning strictly to natural refrigerants (ultra-low GWP).
