Alex Ayers gives us an overview of the most important things going on in DC this month. Highlights of this month's This Month in DC Newsletter:
We had productive few days in DC at our annual Congressional Fly-in event. Over 70 HARDI members participated, meeting with more than 150 offices to advocate on behalf of the HVACR industry. Members are currently in the process of following up with invitations for lawmakers to visit their businesses, which helps strengthen long-term relationships. Save the dates, April 20-21, 2026, for next year's Congressional Fly-in!
Alex also provided updates on several policy issues:
The House passed a major tax package that extends and makes permanent key provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including Section 199A and expanded estate tax exemptions.
Tariff developments remain fluid, with temporary reductions in some Chinese import duties and a major court ruling reciprocal tariffs exceed President Trump's authority under IEEPA.
HVACR professionals are encouraged to take part in HARDI’s refrigerant shortage survey as the industry navigates R-454B supply challenges.
HARDI submitted comments to the DOJ on anti-competitive state regulations, including ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) requirements, ultra-low NOx and zero-NOx water heating and furnace requirements, and natural gas bans to force electrification.
Reminder: For those in New York, the refrigerant seller registration deadline is June 1.
Stay tuned for ongoing updates, and be sure to catch Jake Miller’s Tariff Talks for deeper insights.
