Oregon Code Now Requires Heat Pumps in New Home Construction

On February 18th, the Oregon Residential & Manufactured Structures Board adopted changes to the 2026 Oregon Residential Specialty Code. The adopted changes require heat pumps to be the primary heating and cooling source for new residential construction unless the homeowner pays for additional home energy-efficiency trade-offs.
