HARDI Advocacy is excited to announce the launch of our new Grassroots Advocacy Center. This hub is designed to give HARDI members and HVACR professionals the tools to make their voices heard on the issues that matter most to our industry.
How Does This Tool Help You?
HARDI members should participate in grassroots campaigns because your voice carries real weight with policymakers who shape the future of the HVACR industry. When contractors, distributors, and suppliers speak up together, legislators hear directly from the people whose livelihoods depend on fair and practical regulations. Grassroots engagement helps ensure that laws and policies reflect the realities of doing business: protecting jobs, keeping costs manageable, and promoting innovation. By taking a few minutes to contact elected officials, HARDI members can influence decisions that affect their customers, their communities, and the long-term strength of the industry.
What You’ll Find in the Advocacy Center
Central to the Grassroots Advocacy Center is a list of current HVACR issues where your participation is critical. Each issue includes a VoterVoice campaign that allows you to easily send comments to your elected officials at the federal and state levels. This includes legislation that impacts refrigerant regulations, as well as measures affecting energy efficiency standards, workforce development, and more. Simply click, review the issue, and submit your message.
The Grassroots Advocacy Center also includes other powerful tools in the sidebar to help you stay informed:
Election Center: Enter your address to view upcoming elections, voting resources, and details about your current officials and candidates.
Legislative Search: Stay on top of developments that affect your business by searching for state or federal legislation containing keywords relevant to the HVACR industry.

Alex Ayers
Alex Ayers is the Vice President of Government Affairs for Heating, Air-conditioning, & Refrigeration Distributors International. As a recovering political nerd and current policy wonk, Alex is HARDI’s primary lobbyist and regulatory expert. Growing up in Iowa, Alex was exposed early to local politics through the first in the nation Iowa Caucuses, participating as a county caucus delegate to develop the grassroots planks that go into creating the party platform. Since moving to Washington, DC, Alex has spent over a decade lobbying, publishing papers, and testifying in various policy areas, including taxes, energy, environment, agriculture, and economics. His research has been cited by organizations such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and the Tax Foundation.
