EPA Publishes Changes to Technology Transitions Rule Including Warning of Future Restrictions

May 26, 2026 | 7 minute read

The EPA published its final rule reconsidering portions of the Technology Transitions Rule in the Federal Register. The rule will take effect in 60 days, on Friday, July 27, 2026. The rule removes the R-410A installation prohibition and adds an interim step for several commercial refrigeration sectors. The increase in HFC demand will likely cause future regulations restricting refrigerants.
