Canada announced several categories of HVACR equipment included in a broader package of counter-tariffs on U.S. imports scheduled to take effect September 8, 2026.
The new tariffs are part of the continuing trade dispute between the United States and Canada and follow the United States' decision to impose tariffs of up to 50% on approximately C$27.6 billion of Canadian goods. Canada has said its response will match the U.S. measures "dollar for dollar, rate for rate," imposing tariffs of 15%, 25%, or 50% depending on the product.
