JULY 23-25, 2017 | LOUISVILLE, KY

HARDI’s Emerging Leader Summer Conference will help up-and-coming industry leaders learn to develop long-term strategic plans to be utilized in his/her own journey to the top.

The conference line-up includes renowned industry executives as well as additional experts that will share experiences and insights that will help attendees plan for their futures.

Who is an Emerging Leader?

An Emerging Leader is any employee of a distributor or supplier member who has been recognized as having the talent and potential to someday advance to the executive level of the organization.

Sometimes, as in the cases of family-owned companies, this is the next generation owner. Other times this is an unrelated (but still high-potential) individual who is on the way to the top.

Brent Grover – Strategic Planning Workshop

Emerging leaders play a special role in strategic planning for their companies. The younger leader can be the spark that gets the planning process started. The new leader may have the opportunity to not only be the catalyst, but to volunteer to run the company’s ongoing strategic planning function as part of his or her job.

Many privately owned companies are inconsistent about planning. Perhaps it’s been many years since they conducted a formal planning process, or in some cases they have never done so.

In this session, Brent will inspire HARDI’s Emerging Leaders to seize this opportunity for their company and for themselves.

Kevin Gue – Robots Riding Drones through Augmented Reality—Is This the Future of Warehousing?

Long ago, in a land far, far away, material handling automation meant roller conveyors, AGVs, and monolithic storage systems.  Today, autonomous machines, agile robots, and ubiquitous sensors promise a future of highly flexible, infinitely scalable systems that adapt to changing requirements in throughput and storage capacity.  We present some recent and ongoing developments in the world of material handling automation, with a focus on systems that use decentralized control as a method for dealing with system complexity.  Some of these systems could be part of your future.

About Gue

Kevin Gue is a professor of industrial engineering and Director of the Logistics and Distribution Institute at the University of Louisville. His research interests are in logistics, warehousing, and material handling. He has published in leading journals of his field, and is a past president of the College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education. He is co-inventor of the Flying-V, Fishbone, and Chevron warehouse aisle designs—work for which he was awarded the Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering Award in 2009. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the 2014 U.S. Roadmap for Material Handling and Logistics.
