Helping All Live On (HALO) is a philanthropic organization open to friends, family members and employees of HARDI members as well as the trade press. From the organization’s earliest beginnings more than 50 years ago, it has been dedicated to philanthropic giving, promoting HVACR and educational endeavors.
Since 2009 HALO has raised more than $24,000 for various charities including the American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity. HALO’s raising of more than $14,000 for Habitat for Humanity was combined with a matching gift from the Endowment Fund, making HALO’s contribution more than $28,000.
In 2011, HALO began its partnership with HARDI’s Impact Committee to raise funds and awareness for Homes for Our Troops. At HARDI’s Annual Conference in December 2016, HALO raised more than $19,000 during the silent auction– for a total during 2016 of more than $80,000 (in cash donations and products) for Homes for Our Troops.
ABOUT HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post – 9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to our program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives. For more information click www.hfotusa.org.
On July 30, 2016, HARDI agreed to support Homes for Our Troops through its next 100 builds over the next three years. For each home, HARDI members will provide all heating and cooling equipment and supplies and coordinate the installation with their contractor partner at no charge for each home at an estimated value upwards of $1 million.
While it is an honor to support our Veterans, there is also a very practical reason for this partnership: with HARDI distributor members’ expertise in logistics and with the manufacturers’ HVACR knowledge and resources, HARDI members are in a position to acquire high-efficiency equipment for these homes, which can lower a Veteran’s utility costs and provide better indoor air quality.
HARDI will reach out to distributors in the areas where builds are scheduled. Any distributor that takes part will receive recognition on the HARDI website in thanks for their support of HFOT in its mission to build homes and rebuild lives.
